Important Information for Students
You have received a residence permit for a certain time-limit for your studies at the Deggendorf University.
However the residence permit includes some very important points!
The residence permit will be taken back or revised if you
- change the study programme during your studies
- change the University
- leave the Deggendorf University
- do not take your studies seriously or fail the courses too often.
A revision or cancellation of your residence permit means that from this time on, you no longer have a permit and have to leave the country immediately. Absence to do this means you are illegally in Germany and are breaking the law.
If you find it necessary to change the University or fields, please contact the foreign department in Deggendorf before you do so. Please remember to contact us BEFORE you want to change and not afterwards.
It is very important to remember to apply for an extension of your residence permit a couple of weeks before it runs out, as it takes a certain amount of time to get an extension. An employment taken extra to your studies is allowed only for 90 days or 180 half days in one year.

Admission Requirements for International Students
International applicants (non-German nationals) must have their national school leaving certificate (A-levels, High School Diploma, Bacclaureat, Bachillerato ...) acknowledged as equivalent to the relevant German certificate (Abitur/fachgebundene Hochschulreife) by the Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle (Bavaria). Parallel to this, students must apply to study in Deggendorf.
After students receive the evaluation from the Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle (ZAST), a copy must be sent to the Hochschule Deggendorf. Further information can be found in the Application Form deggendorf-application.pdf (download see above).
Please note: This form is only for applicants who have a school leaving certificate from a country other than Germany.
Students who wish to study in Deggendorf for more than two semesters must pass a German as a Foreign Language examination.
The following examinations are valid as proof of sufficient command of the German language:
- DSH Exam (German Language Examination for University Admission)
- TestDaF (Test German as a Foreign Language)
The Hochschule Deggendorf is an official test centre for the TestDaF.

Application Deadlines
Application for admission to the Hochschule Deggendorf must be fully completed and sent with the required documents so that they arrive by the respective closing dates. It is only possible to begin a course of study in the Winter Semester. In case a student wishes to change to a semester higher than first semester, it is possible to apply in Summer Semester.
Application Deadlines:
- for study in Winter Semester, 15 June
- for study in Summer Semester, 15 January (does not apply to first semester students)
